Meet our Massage Therapist, Alicia Jones

Photo of Alicia JonesI have been passionate about massage my whole life. I gained my qualifications In 2017 through the Australian Institute of Fitness.

My approach to massage & bodywork is different from a lot of other massage therapists as I provide a very unique & specific style which is adapted to the clients’ needs. While a good understanding of pain preferences & pain tolerance is subjective, I do my best to match each client’s desired needs. I do this by being mindful & transparent not only during intake but during table time as well.

I value identifying & educating my clients about their body & assisting them to better understand & manage any conditions they may have, to reduce any reoccurring issues. I promote the body’s natural healing process & reconnect the client as a whole, through flowing movement & specific work… I integrate Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Sports Massage, Remedial Massage, prenatal, Reiki, Myofascial & connective tissue release. Along with my training, I have a strong Intuitive ability that assists me to locate problem areas & treat accordingly. While firm pressure is one of my strengths, relaxation, comfort & overall client satisfaction is my ideal goal.

Swedish Massage is a basic relaxing full body massage which may include a variety of massage strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve circulation. Swedish may also include range of motion stretching. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.

Therapeutic Massage is typically focused on a specific injury or pain-related issue. Evaluation techniques are used to gain a clearer understanding of muscle dysfunction which may be contributing to the issue(s). Massage techniques are then utilized to alleviate pain and return muscle function and increased range of motion.

Prenatal Massage is a full body massage during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters that promotes a comfortable low stress pregnancy. Gentle and relaxing, this is a must for moms-to-be. Great for baby too.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of energy healing that cleanses and balances the energy patterns in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional, and physical health.

Reiki encourages deep relaxation to:

  • Relieve stress
  • Accelerate healing
  • Assist the body in cleansing toxins
  • Balance the flow of energy by releasing blockages
  • Help the client connect with their inner healing power
  • Enhance spiritual growth

The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Remedial Massage may include the use of one or more techniques such as muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, and trigger point to address client specific issues. This process can be painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. Client feedback during the session is necessary. This may or may not include a full body massage, depending on the number of issues addressed and the time allotted.

Sports Massage is a form of bodywork geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.

Sports massage has three basic forms: pre-event massage, post-event massage, and maintenance massage.
