Introducing Joondalup Chiropractor Dr. Paul Bruno

Coming from a family that included a heart surgeon, gastroenterologist, and brother who was soon to become a neurologist, I thought Chiropractic as a profession could be difficult for my family to accept. Mind you before I decided to become a Chiropractor I spent six years becoming an Ocean Engineer, due to my fascination and appreciation of the ocean.

When starting to investigate chiropractic, I was surprised to find out how many friends and even family members were seeing chiropractors. I even found out that one of my cousins was a chiropractor. When discussing this with my family I was surprised by the support I received considering the medical aspect of my family. However, I was not surprised by the support I received from my mother and her sister. My aunt was probably one of the largest factors in considering chiropractic as a career. She was truly a believer in alternative/natural forms of health care. She was always subjecting her family to all kinds of natural health ideas and chiropractic was at the top of the list.

One of the deciding factors for applying to chiropractic college (total of 7.5 years) was due to an experience I had with a chiropractor after a baseball injury. The only reason I saw Dr. Mitch (chiropractor) was because my dad and uncle met him through work and spoke highly of him. I will never forget that first visit. It took some time, but the results were incredible. I also found out he was the chiropractor for the Harlem Globetrotters. This had my mind starting to set goals. I knew I needed to be a Chiropractor.

I was told by the chiropractic school I needed some additional courses to be eligible to apply. So I immediately enrolled into two local Universities and started taking the additional pre-chiropractic courses to add to my previous science degree to be eligible.

Not long after, I packed up and moved to Atlanta Georgia and began my chiropractic education at Life Chiropractic College (currently Life University). During these additional four years the courses included; biochemistry, histology, many different anatomy courses, physiology, x-ray, pathology, neurology, orthopaedics, multiple adjusting techniques, and a strict internship in both of the Life Chiropractic Colleges public clinics.

After graduating in 1990, I moved to Florida where I thought I was to begin my chiropractic career. To my surprise, I received a few phone calls from different chiropractors in Australia. I remember mentioning in school one day, “it would be interesting to maybe practice in Australia for a while”. It’s amazing how far words can travel! Within a few months I packed my bags again and headed for Melbourne Australia where I practised for a few years before settling in homey Perth. In Perth I built a purpose built office which is almost an exact drawing of plans I drew as my dream office during a class in the last semester in school.  Dreams do happen. Many people doubted the size, sophistication and location of my office but I figured “if you build it they will come”.

At Grand Boulevard Chiropractic we love and accept all kinds of patients. Even SCEPTICS! Once the sceptics concerns are addressed and relieved, they become the best patients. This is one of the reasons we make sure we explain everything to the patients as best we can from the moment they call us on the phone and through-out any ongoing care. We know patients expect and appreciate this level of communication.

I love my family practice, but I seem to have the most fun with the children. When you meet me, I’m sure you will understand why. I also enjoy the challenges of everyday practice as well as those patients without pain who come for preventative measures. I believe life is precious; let’s get the most out of it and ourselves.

I have recently married my beautiful wife Natasha who also shares the same love for chiropractic and runs our second office in Mindarie.  I have a beautiful daughter named Marina who, keeping in check with our natural healthy lifestyle, has never been vaccinated nor uses any medication. A strong nervous/immune system seems to be doing the job! How many 12 year olds do you know who have never had any medication?

Chiropractic first....... Medicine second........Surgery last!

As the principle chiropractor of Grand Boulevard Chiropractic Centre, I would like to thank you for visiting our site. There are four Chiropractors in our office (2 females and 2 males) and all of us would be more than happy to serve your family.

Introducing Joondalup Chiropractor Dr. Kjersti Endresen

I’m a Norwegian that loves the outdoors and nature.

Since I was a little girl I always wanted to become a Doctor being able to help people get well. As a young teenager I started seeing a chiropractor due to some problems with my low back. This chiropractor inspired me to start my chiropractic career some years later. Through my studies I realised how thorough the chiropractic education is today, and that we really are the “real” doctors making you healthier through working with your nervous-system, the main control of your entire body. One of my biggest dreams, and still is, to go and help kids in other countries that are not as fortunate as us, and give them a better opportunity to the start of their life.

I pursued my education at Macquarie University in Sydney. Living on the beautiful northern beaches, made these years some of the best in my life. A lot of hard work with long days at university and weekends in front of the books, but in a great environment when you needed a break from it all. Lots of long walks along the beaches.

My main passion is working with kids and babies and for that reason I started a 3 yrs postgraduate master degree in Paediatrics. I’ve had some delays to finish, as having my first child, but I am planning to finish it in the near future. Through my experiences as a chiropractor and through observing other chiropractors as a student I’m amazed by the huge effects that we can make on a child’s life. eg: delayed motor development, colic, recurrent ear infections, to mention only a few. I believe that the child should be able to have the best opportunities to grow up fit and healthy.

When not working I spend most of my time with my daughter Aria and partner George. We love to get outside to the beach, bush walking, running, snorkelling and skiing (even though not many opportunities here in Perth). Otherwise I like socialising with friends or watch a good movie.

To stay healthy, I think a well balanced and varied diet is important with lots of fruit, vegetables and fresh produce. Sugars and products with artificial additives should be minimised. A good diet is important for our moods and our energy levels. Some type of exercise should also be a part of everyone’s life, should it be walking, running, gym, swimming or dancing. The most important thing is to find something that you enjoy and stick to it. Variation is important, although overdoing anything can cause injuries. Talk to your chiropractor if in doubt. Chiropractic is an important part of keeping me healthy and I’ll get an adjustment every week or fortnight. My partner and daughter get their adjustments fortnightly too, and more frequently if a cold is coming on to boost their immune system.

Introducing Joondalup Chiropractor Dr. Joshua Tymms

Dr John Tan, Eamon Sullivan (Current World record Holder for 50m Freestyle) and Dr. Joshua TymmsMy first experience with chiropractic was back when I was 13 years old. I was on a surfing trip in the far north of Western Australia when we had a head-on collision with another four wheel drive coming around a blind corner on a dirt road! My brother suffered a severe whiplash and bump on the head and was admitted to hospital and quickly discharged later the same day. From that time on however he experienced severe head aches and migraines along with frequent neck stiffness. This went on for some time before we were finally referred by a friend to a chiropractor. Once misalignments in my brother’s spine were addressed with specific spinal adjustments his symptoms cleared and before long our whole family were checked and adjusted regularly throughout the years to maintain spinal integrity and optimum function of our nervous systems. I was amazed by the influence a spinal adjustment could have on the body. Something so simple yet so powerful!

After high school I enrolled into the inaugural class of chiropractic students at Murdoch University in 2002. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chiropractic and a Bachelor in Chiropractic five years later. Since this time I have continued my studies, completing an International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma in April 2007.

Dr. Joshua Tymms with Justin Langer (Ex-Auzzie Cricketer)I’m a member of the Chiropractic Association of Australia, taking an active role with the Sports Chiropractic Association. I have worked with many elite athletes from different sporting arenas, including some of the great cricket and football stars to swimming and water polo champions.

Outside of the office I have a keen interest in sports and particularly motor racing. I competed in the State Road Racing Championships through the 2006 season riding my trusty 600cc Yamaha sports bike. Although the bikes were awesome to race, the injuries were often severe and I look forward to further racing ambitions in the future but with four wheels under me instead. I also look forward to working more closely with the riders and drivers of these categories in seasons to come.

Chiropractic is a passion of mine and I am dedicated to spreading my knowledge of the body so to work towards improving and maintaining the health of those around me.

Introducing Joondalup Chiropractor Dr. Magda Lipnicka

My name is Dr Magda Lipnicka I’ve had the pleasure of working with the great team of chiropractors at Grand Boulevard Chiropractic since December 2008 or (late last year). I was born in Poland, however moved over with my family at the age of 6 and have since been living in Perth. With its beautiful beaches and great weather, it’s difficult for me not to love the outdoors whether it’s camping over at Rottnest, surfing down in Margaret River or cycling along the coast.

Growing up, neither I nor my family had any idea about Chiropractic and like many families relied heavily on the medical profession as a primary source of health care. Unfortunately, I was not the healthiest child, contracting pneumonia a week after being born, followed by vast amounts of antibiotics to my developing nervous system. This resulted in a poor immune system throughout my childhood and adolescence. Catching the flu and countless ear infections every couple of months had turned into a normal part of my life.

I did not learn about the Chiropractic profession until my final year in high school, when deciding on my university application. I knew I wanted to be involved in health care however I felt the need to be able to improve overall health care naturally without the use of medication. After beginning my studies at Murdoch University I was fortunate enough to start working as a chiropractic assistant with Dr Paul Bruno and commenced care along with my family.

Having had two spinal surgeries, resulting from a prolapsed disc, my father was relying on powerful pain medication each day, whilst my mother had been suffering from migraines since her twenties. Within a few weeks of chiropractic care my father was able to stop taking prescribed pain killers and my mother has not had one migraine since her first visit. For me, the greatest benefit was the effect on my immune system as I may only suffer from the occasional winter cold – once a year! Along with my family, I have noticed vast improvement in our overall health and wellbeing which further drives my passion for chiropractic.

Throughout my studies I had the opportunity to work at sporting competitions and drug rehabilitation centers seeing the diversity of people who can benefit from care. Since starting practice I have seen the immense advantages of care from day old babies to people well into their nineties. I believe it is never too early or late to start improving your health and that of your family through chiropractic, so I hope to see you soon on your quest to better health.
